Weather
Malta has a subtropical-Mediterranean climate, which means that we have very mild winters, and warm to hot summers. In general the Maltese weather is nice all year round, with temperatures normally reaching 36 ºC in summer and dropping to a low of around 14 ºC in the coldest month January.
The average yearly temperature is around 23 ºC. Our summer season lasts about 8 months, starting from around mid April and ends in mid November. If you want to avoid the heat but make the most of the sun on a winter holiday then Malta is also an excellent choice. Amongst all the capitals of Europe, Valetta, has the warmest winters. The average is around 16ºC during the day, and a comfortable 12ºC at night.
Large fluctuations in temperature are rare, making it easy to plan your holiday. Also Malta is one of the few places in Europe which stays green all year round. Rain falls mainly in winter, although summer does have a very occasional shower.
